Advanced Manufacturing & Automation Engineer
Location: Kalamazoo, MI
What You'll Do
As an Advanced Manufacturing & Automation Engineer, you will:
- Develop, optimize, and support 5-axis CNC machining processes.
- Create, troubleshoot, and improve CNC programs and post-processors for complex machining applications.
- Lead and support automation initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with machinists, operators, programmers, engineers, and production leaders to solve technical challenges.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through setup reduction, process optimization, machine utilization improvements, and workflow enhancements.
- Support palletized machining systems and automated manufacturing technologies.
- Use ESPRIT EDGE to develop advanced machining strategies and CNC programs.
- Utilize SOLIDWORKS to design fixtures, manufacturing concepts, and process improvements.
- Support new equipment installations, machine validations, process development, and technology implementation projects.
- Explore and implement innovative digital solutions, including AI, scripting, automation, and data-driven manufacturing tools.
- Drive projects from problem identification through deployment and long-term sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with 5-axis machining and/or CNC programming.
- Experience supporting manufacturing automation systems and process integration.
- Familiarity with Mazak machining centers is highly valued.
- Experience with pallet automation systems or automated machining cells.
- Working knowledge of ESPRIT EDGE and/or other CAM programming software.
- Experience using SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD platforms.
- Knowledge of CNC post-processor development, modification, or troubleshooting.
- Experience with robotics, machine tending, automated material handling, or industrial automation is a plus.
- Exposure to AI, coding, scripting, digital manufacturing tools, or Industry 4.0 technologies is highly desirable.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent technical training, military experience, apprenticeship programs, or relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated success solving manufacturing problems and driving measurable improvements is highly valued.
