Job Summary

The Advanced Application Engineer, Experiences & Events, is a dedicated global events programmer responsible for designing, programming, standardizing, and maintaining interactive technology experiences for large-scale tradeshows, live events, Experience Centers, production studios, and other experiential activations. This role ensures that every experience serves as both a compelling showcase of Q-SYS technology and an expression of QSC's unapologetically different and indelible brand spirit.

Working closely with the QSC Corporate Experiences & Events team, this role translates creative narratives and experience concepts into executable technical designs using the appropriate Q-SYS technology stack. The position establishes standardized programming methodologies, UI/UX patterns, networking frameworks, templates, and pre-build processes that improve consistency, scalability, reliability, and deployment efficiency across global events and experiences.

The Advanced Application Engineer also provides technical leadership throughout pre-build, show build, and onsite execution, coordinating with regional and field Advanced Engineering Team members, conducting programming and design reviews, monitoring progress, and leading rapid troubleshooting and escalation when needed. Beyond live events, this role will be pivotal in transforming production studios into best-in-class Q-SYS technology showcases and scaling the latest tradeshow experiences into regional Experience Centers, helping ensure that QSC's global client engagement environments continually reflect the company's most current technologies, experiences, and brand standards.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Event Programming Design, Standardization and Integration (Planning)
• Standardize experience design methodologies within Q-SYS Designer Software across global events and experiences to ensure consistency, reduce setup time, and improve scalability.
• Program within Q-SYS' Lua Based Show Control fundamentals, architecture, and development practices with the ability to extend platform capabilities through new device integrations, optimize code for scalability and maintainability, and develop standardized control frameworks supporting trade shows, studio functionality, and Q-SYS Experience Centers.
• Advanced knowledge of Lua scripting and CSS with the ability to develop custom applications, automation workflows, user interfaces, dashboards, and integrated control solutions for live events, demonstrations, and customer-facing environments.
• Partner with editorial leads to translate experience narratives and creative concepts into executable technical designs using the appropriate technology stack.
• Develop initial experience programming drafts to minimize programming requirements for regional and field Advanced Engineering Team members during pre-build and build phases.
• Develop and maintain network architectures that support experience requirements and enable real-time, bidirectional customization through data exchange.

Event Programming Leadership (Prebuild / Build)
• Coordinate closely with regional and field Advanced Engineering Team members to assign programming responsibilities and schedule pre-build and build activities.
• Conduct design and programming reviews to maintain consistency and continuity, monitor progress, address technical challenges, and keep projects on schedule.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues during pre-build, show build, and live event operation, escalating unresolved issues to product teams when necessary.

Studio Experience Designer
• Design a robust Q-SYS-powered production studio experience that demonstrates best-in-class AV control and automation.
• Integrate interactive technology into production studio workflows to support pre-production testing, live feed management, and broadcast-quality output.
• Implement the initial studio design at QSC headquarters in Costa Mesa, California, and document the design and deployment process for future global production studios.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure studio environments align with current and future technology standards.

Experience Center: Ownership, Maintenance, and Instructional Support
• Translate programming designs from the latest tradeshow experiences into regional Experience Centers.
• Participate in the Experience Center Council as a technical advocate and subject-matter expert for newly adapted experiences.
• Serve as a resource for the deployment of new and updated experiences across regional Experience Centers.
• Regularly audit and update equipment, programming, and software to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
