Description

With offices across North Carolina the Physician Assistant or NP role is trained and licensed to assist the supervising physician by performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, collecting and organizing historical and physical data, and exercising a degree of independent judgment in determining appropriate treatments and dispositions. The PA/NP is responsible for written documentation of all clinical interactions in the patient's chart.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
  • Physician Assistant license required
  • Medical training from an approved program
  • At least two years of experience as a Physician Assistant
  • Good knowledge of medical office software such as but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, and medical practice software
  • Familiarity with EMR programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent documentation skills

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
  • Patient evaluation by performing appropriate history and physical exams
  • Ordering laboratory, radiological and special studies
  • Performing diagnostic procedures such as, but not limited to, physical examination, phlebotomy, catheterization, joint injections and aspirations and administering of vaccines
  • Performing therapeutic procedures such as, but not limited to, suturing of wounds, foreign body removal, I&D of abscesses, reduction of fractures and dislocations, splinting, casting, and injections
  • Assisting the surgeon in the OR as designated
  • Reading and interpreting imaging studies and laboratory reports
  • Initiation of life-saving measures as needed
  • Diagnosing and treating minor illnesses of employees of EmergeOrtho, P.A.
  • Telephone contact with patients as appropriate.

Other
  • Involvement in QI and research programs.
  • Attendance at educational and department meetings.
  • Intermittent OR, UC, and other clinic coverage required.
