Description

Have you always wanted the flexibility to create your own schedule while still being part of a busy, well-established cardiology practice? We are seeking an experienced Outpatient/Inpatient Cardiology Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner to provide hospital-based cardiovascular care and cover inpatient consults across El Paso. Working closely with an experienced cardiologist, you will evaluate and manage patients with acute and complex cardiovascular conditions, coordinate care with hospital teams, and support safe transitions following discharge.

Requirements

Essential Duties:
• Provide inpatient cardiology consultations and follow-up care across El Paso-area hospitals.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and complex cardiovascular conditions.
• Provide pre-surgical clearances
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising cardiologist.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and cardiac imaging.
• Manage cardiovascular medications and monitor patients' responses to treatment.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing teams, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation within each hospital's electronic medical record system.
• Support discharge planning, follow-up coordination, and transitions of care.
• Participate in clinical research activities, including identifying potential participants and supporting study-related clinical procedures.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in rotating call, weekend, or holiday coverage as agreed upon.

Qualifications:

  • Acute-care or hospital-based inpatient experience.
  • Experience evaluating and managing patients with acute cardiovascular conditions.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with the supervising cardiologist.
  • Conversational Spanish preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and appropriate national board certification.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Exceptional ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with sponsors, key opinion leaders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex protocols with overlapping timelines.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex clinical programs.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements, including ongoing engagement in maintenance of certification for primary board certification.
  • Ability to travel for Clinic activities, and attend investigator meetings or vendor visits/audits, as required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software (MS Office skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and with clinical trial master filing systems and eSource.

Education and Experience:

  • NP degree required from a U.S. accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Active Board Certification is required.
  • Current and Active license to practice in the U.S.
  • 1 or more years of healthcare experience in a U.S. community practice setting, including in cardiovascular disease management.
  • Willing to train the right candidate
