Position Summary
Responsible for the Oncology/Hematology Division's fiscal and administrative oversight, and accountable to the Internal Medicine Chair, Department Administrator, and Division Chief for adherence to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine policies & procedures. Coordinate the division's business affairs, manage its non-faculty personnel, and work with UNMC and Nebraska Medicine regarding the division's finances. Work with multiple partner organizations (UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, and the VA)to accomplish the educational, research and clinical goals of the department and division. Collaborate with the Division Chief on long range planning and development. Collaborate with The Nebraska Medicine Oncology Service Line Executive Director and Oncology Service Line management regarding financial and clinical matters.

General
1. General business acumen to include: common sense, good judgment, negotiation skills, basic accounting, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis, and ability to anticipate and forecast needs of the division.

Clinical
1. Ability to collaborate and manage across multiple organizations
2. Advanced understanding of health care financial management concepts
3. Understanding of principles, methods and procedures of modern health care administration and organization, including linkage systems with other health organizations
4. Knowledge of principles of modern outpatient care service management and coordination.
5. Collect activity data of volume of hospital consultations, ambulatory clinic patients and procedures.
6. In partnership with Division Chief, organize the clinical schedule of faculty and APPs in the coverage of the hospital-based consult services, ambulatory clinics and procedural/endoscopy units as requires.
7. Direct Division-based clinic and endoscopy schedulers.
Research
1. Understanding of pre-award budget preparation and related regulations such as Medicare coverage analysis, coordination of IRB or IACUC protocols, justifications
2. Understanding of post-award administration including set-up process, reconciliation, regular review, progress reports and close-out process
3. Knowledge of and compliance with award-specific and relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations.
4. Understanding of strategic planning for research enterprise of division/department in collaboration with Chair or Division Chief
5. Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise
Education
Knowledge in the following areas:
1. General understanding of academic program accreditation standards, academic services processes, and ability to interface effectively with information and reporting systems
2. General knowledge and awareness of educator and student rights and responsibilities
