THE POSITION

The Administrative Officer 3 position with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Health and Safety Division offers an exciting chance to support programs that strengthen workplace safety across the Commonwealth. This role allows you to help guide statewide initiatives and ensure that important safety resources reach employers and workers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees statewide health and safety programs and supports communication, training, and evaluation efforts that help strengthen workplace practices. It plays a key role in guiding program strategy, staff performance, and outreach to communities across the Commonwealth. As an Administrative Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:
  • Program Oversight: Manage statewide safety programs and ensure alignment with laws and regulations
  • Staff Leadership: Direct clerical and technical staff by assigning tasks, reviewing work, and supporting training
  • Training Management: Coordinate health and safety training efforts and guide development of program content
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with regulated groups and support meetings, outreach, and collaboration
  • Communication Review: Evaluate written materials for accuracy and clarity to support program messaging

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Administrative Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management budgeting or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
