Summary

We are seeking an ADAS Algorithm Developer to join our team in Troy, Michigan. This role focuses on the development, integration, validation, and performance optimization of camera-based driver assistance features that improve driver awareness, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of algorithms supporting Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), Drowsy Driver Detection (DDD), Traffic Sign Information (TSI), Automatic High Beam Control (AHBC), and Glare-Free High Beam (GFHB) systems. The role requires close collaboration with systems engineering, software, validation, calibration, and regulatory compliance teams to deliver robust and customer-focused ADAS features.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and maintain ADAS Situational Awareness algorithms including Drowsy Driver Detection (DDD), Traffic Sign Information (TSI), Automatic High Beam Control (AHBC), and Glare-Free High Beam (GFHB).
  • Design and implement feature logic, decision-making algorithms, and state management for camera-based ADAS functions.
  • Develop and optimize algorithms using real-world driving data, simulation, and vehicle testing.
  • Analyze sensor and vehicle data to improve feature performance, robustness, and customer experience.
  • Perform root-cause investigations of field, test-track, and simulation events.
  • Define, execute, and assess validation scenarios across diverse traffic, lighting, weather, and road conditions.
  • Ensure feature compliance with applicable global regulations, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, validation, calibration, safety, and product teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support Functional Safety (ISO 26262), SOTIF, and ASPICE development activities.
  • Document algorithm designs, verification results, technical decisions, and development artifacts according to established engineering processes.

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in ADAS, computer vision, machine perception, or automotive algorithm development.
  • Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow for algorithm design and implementation.
  • Experience with sensor-based algorithm development and data analysis.
  • Understanding of image processing, computer vision, machine learning, or signal processing concepts.

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related technical field.
  • Experience developing Driver Monitoring or Drowsy Driver Detection systems.
  • Experience with Traffic Sign Recognition or Traffic Sign Information features.
  • Experience with Automotive Lighting functions including AHBC or GFHB.
  • Experience with camera-based perception systems and image-processing pipelines.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and neural network-based perception algorithms.
  • Experience with OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with CarMaker, SIL, HIL, MIL, and scenario-based verification workflows.
  • Experience performing resimulation and field-event analysis.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, and AUTOSAR.
  • Experience with CANoe, CANape, ETAS INCA, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE software development processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
  • Experience with automotive camera calibration and performance evaluation.


Regulatory and Compliance Experience (Highly Desired)

  • Understanding of global regulations and standards applicable to:
    • Driver Monitoring Systems
    • Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning Systems
    • Traffic Sign Information functions
    • Automatic High Beam and Adaptive Driving Beam systems
  • Experience validating feature performance against:
    • FMVSS requirements
    • UNECE regulations
    • Euro NCAP requirements
    • Regional customer and OEM specifications
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into algorithm requirements, performance targets, and validation criteria.
