Full Job Description
The Actuary, Individual Wealth (IW) Pricing contributes to the pricing, financial analysis, and ongoing enhancement of Individual Wealth actuarial pricing models. This role supports the pricing, profitability assessment and model development of Guaranteed Deposit Accounts, Payout Annuities, Segregated Funds, and Pre-Need Funeral products, while helping advance model improvements, pricing processes, and future product initiatives.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you'll do:
  • Oversee the preparation of custom quotes.
  • Perform actuarial analysis to support pricing decisions and profitability assessment.
  • Contribute to product development initiatives and other strategic business initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain actuarial pricing models for Individual Wealth products, with a particular focus on Segregated Fund modelling.
  • Drive model and process improvements, including AXIS model efficiencies, run-time optimization, automation initiatives, and implementation of new modelling approaches.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on pricing models, providing guidance, training, and knowledge transfer to analysts and team members.
  • Develop and maintain robust model documentation, governance frameworks, and knowledge repositories to support effective knowledge management and succession planning.
  • Support the evaluation, development, and implementation of new modelling tools and software solutions.


What you'll bring:

  • University degree in mathematics or actuarial science and an FSA/FCIA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, including pricing and/or financial reporting.
  • Strong technical actuarial modelling expertise, with experience in AXIS or similar actuarial modelling platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of Moody's Axis, Excel, & Access.
  • Familiarity with Segregated Fund and Payout annuity products is an asset.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and its application to insurance product profitability, modelling, and financial reporting is an asset.
  • Ability to deliver project results on time with a high degree of quality.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and explain complex concepts to others.
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation, and comfort operating in an environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
