Position Overview:

Responsible for conducting moderately complex actuarial and statistical analyses to support financial forecasting and decision-making. This role applies advanced knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and business principles to perform health-related calculations and modeling. Independently manages assigned tasks, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organizational objectives. Performs semi-routine actuarial and statistical analyses to estimate financial outcomes and support strategic decision-making across the organization. Building on foundational actuarial skills, this role applies a deeper understanding of mathematics, probability, statistics, and business principles to conduct health-related calculations, financial modeling, and risk assessments. Complete assigned tasks independently, demonstrate sound judgment in data interpretation, and contribute to the development and refinement of actuarial methodologies. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting regulatory compliance, and beginning to take ownership of projects and deliverables. Plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of actuarial outputs while continuing to develop technical expertise and business acumen.

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Services, or related field

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • Completion of actuarial course exams: Probability Exam, Financial Mathematics
  • Exam, Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics Exam, Statistics of Risk Modeling
  • Exam and Associated Validation by Educational Experience credits from Society of Actuaries

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency in Excel and statistical software (SAS, R, Python).
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management.
  • Solid mathematical background including experience working with risk models, actuarial or mathematical analysis, and using automated or statistical analysis tools
  • Knowledge advanced analytic tools, and other business intelligence tools

Pay Range is $35.04 to $52.56 / hour. California, New Jersey, Washington Pay Range is $35.04 to $52.56 / hour. Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia Pay Range is $31.05 to $47.31 / hour. Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah Pay Range is $28.04 to $42.05 / hour.

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
