About the RoleThe Actuarial Analyst III is an experienced actuarial professional responsible for performing advanced actuarial analyses, forecasting, financial modeling, pricing, and reporting activities that support key business decisions across the organization. This role applies actuarial principles and statistical techniques to evaluate financial performance, analyze healthcare utilization trends, develop pricing recommendations, and support strategic initiatives.
The Actuarial Analyst III serves as a subject matter resource within the department, working independently on complex assignments while collaborating with actuarial leadership and business partners to deliver data-driven insights that support organizational goals.
What You'll DoData Analysis & Reporting - Collect, analyze, and interpret financial, claims, membership, and utilization data to support actuarial studies and business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain recurring actuarial reports, dashboards, and analyses.
- Support the monitoring and reporting of key financial and operational metrics, including Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) estimates.
- Validate data integrity and ensure accuracy of actuarial analyses and reporting.
Trend Analysis & Forecasting - Perform trend analyses to evaluate healthcare cost, utilization, and membership patterns.
- Support forecasting activities related to medical costs, enrollment, utilization, and financial performance.
- Analyze historical data and emerging trends to assist in projecting future business outcomes.
- Identify opportunities and risks through quantitative analysis and predictive modeling.
Pricing & Financial Analysis - Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial pricing models.
- Support product pricing and financial evaluations, including:
- Rate development and regulatory filings
- Benefit adjustment factor analysis
- Fee schedule evaluations
- New product pricing
- Cost and profitability analyses
- Assist in assessing the financial impact of benefit, provider, and regulatory changes.
- Provide analytical support for strategic business initiatives and product development efforts.
Professional Development & Collaboration - Apply actuarial principles and methodologies to solve complex business challenges.
- Collaborate with Finance, Underwriting, Product Development, Operations, and other business teams.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to actuarial leadership and business stakeholders.
- Support process improvement initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and analytical capabilities.
- Continue professional actuarial development through exam progression and technical skill enhancement.
What You BringEducation/Experience:- Bachelor degree is required preferably within Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Requires 4+ years of actuarial and/or statistics experience or attainment of Associate level in the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:Knowledge:- Requires expert knowledge of Excel.
- Prefers working knowledge of Access or other database application.
- Prefers experience with SAS or other programming language.
- Requires knowledge of data analysis and Actuarial principles.
Skills and Abilities:- Requires good oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range:$87,300 - $119,070
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
