Position Summary
The Accounting Systems Analyst supports the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a key contributor to the modernization of the department's systems, tools, and processes. This role blends core general-ledger responsibilities with hands-on involvement in finance technology initiatives, including ERP implementation and optimization, automation of manual workflows, data integrity improvements, and the rollout of reporting and analytics tools. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accountant who is energized by technology, comfortable bridging the gap between Finance and IT, and motivated to make accounting processes faster, more accurate, and more scalable.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Transformation
· Serve as a finance-side subject-matter expert on accounting systems (ERP, sub-ledgers, and related applications), supporting implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
· Identify, document, and prioritize opportunities to automate manual accounting processes, including the month-end close, reconciliations, and journal-entry workflows.
· Partner with IT, FP&A, and external vendors to gather requirements, configure systems, test new functionality, and validate that financial data flows correctly between systems.
· Build and maintain automations, templates, and reporting using tools such as Excel, Power Query, RPA, and business-intelligence platforms.
· Develop and maintain process documentation, system workflows, and standard operating procedures for new and existing tools.
· Support data-migration, data-cleansing, and master-data-governance efforts to improve the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
· Assist in evaluating new finance technologies and preparing recommendations and cost-benefit analyses for management.
· Provide training and end-user support to the accounting team on new systems and process changes.
Core Accounting
· Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
· Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
· Reconcile general-ledger accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany balances, researching and resolving discrepancies.
· Assist with the preparation of financial statements, schedules, and supporting workpapers.
· Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in documenting and testing control activities.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 1–3 years of accounting experience, including general-ledger and month-end close responsibilities.
· Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting fundamentals.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and large-data manipulation).
· Hands-on experience with an ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage).
· Demonstrated interest in or aptitude for finance technology, automation, and process improvement.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across Finance and IT.
Preferred Qualifications
· CPA, or active progress toward certification.
· Experience participating in an ERP implementation, upgrade, or system migration.
· Familiarity with automation and reporting tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or RPA platforms (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate).
· Basic understanding of SQL or relational databases.
