General position summary:

The Accounting Project Manager leads cross-functional accounting and finance projects that improve processes, ensure compliance, and support organizational growth. This role partners with Finance, Accounting, IT, HR, Operations, and external vendors to successfully implement financial and accounting initiatives while maintaining accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting-related projects from planning through implementation and completion.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and status reports.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy through detailed analysis.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and routine financial reporting.
  • Works with leadership to standardize financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare executive presentations, dashboards, and project updates for leadership.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants, auditors, and software vendors.
  • Coordinate and lead efforts on external financial and bank audits, including preparation and review of required documentation.
  • Assist with merger, acquisition, and business integration projects as assigned.
  • Collaborates with the Director to support overall department goals and objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Solid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles, laws, and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and reporting principles.
  • Advanced level with Microsoft Office Excel program.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and accounting software
  • Must be willing and able to work with several different departments/locations and manage multiple tasks daily.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
  • CPA preferred.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Experienced professional with 5 years’ experience in progressive experience in Accounting or Audit including financial close and audits

Travel:

  • Less than 10% travel is required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Operations:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS, timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines, and prioritize work.
