Accounting Manager / Director

Reports To: VP & Controller
Status: Exempt
Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 annually, title and compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for coordinating the monthly close process, reviewing financial reporting, maintaining accounting controls, and serving as the primary liaison with the Company's outsourced accounting partner and internal stakeholders, particularly the property management team. This role works closely with Operations and Finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, resolve accounting issues, and drive continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, and partnering across departments to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close
  • Manage the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze variances, investigate unusual activity, and ensure issues are resolved timely.
  • Coordinate reporting deliverables and maintain close calendar deadlines.
  • Participate in monthly P&L reviews with our operations team and 3rd-party owners.

Accounting Operations
  • Oversee recurring accounting activities, including accruals, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, and other month-end processes.
  • Review property-level accounting activity and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support onboarding of new properties, entities, and accounting processes.

Outsourced Accounting Partner Management
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the outsourced accounting and accounts payable provider.
  • Monitor deliverables, support issue resolution, and ensure service levels are met.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure financial reporting reflects operational performance.

Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting documentation.
  • Support annual audits, tax requests, and regulatory reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, technology, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures and best practices.

Leadership
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff.
  • Foster accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, professional certifications, experience, and demonstrated performance will be considered.

Preferred Experience
  • Hospitality, real estate, multi-entity, or multi-location accounting.
  • Working with outsourced accounting or shared-service environments.
  • Audit support and financial reporting experience.
