Full Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our accounting function. This role sits between hands-on execution and strategic oversight - you will both roll up your sleeves on core accounting tasks and take ownership of the close process, internal controls, and team coordination. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in general accounting, experience in digital media or a fast-paced environment, and is ready to grow into a Controller-level role. A CPA license (active or in progress) is strongly preferred.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own and manage the full monthly close process for different entities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee all core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Review and analyze talent and creator contracts; review revenue share and participation statements and ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Manage and coordinate an staff accountants and at times senior accountants on day-to-day AP, AR, and reconciliation functions
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, production, operations, and legal teams to ensure accurate accounting for diverse revenue streams (e.g., sponsorships, licensing, media sales)
  • Review sales commission statements and support commissions reporting
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support external audits and coordinate with tax advisors, shared services, and technical accounting teams
  • Support systems implementations and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed by leadership


WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA license active or actively in progress strongly preferred
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Experience managing or coordinating outsourced or in-house accounting staff
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage competing priorities effectively


NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience in digital media, entertainment, or a high-growth startup environment
  • Familiarity with talent/creator contract structures and media revenue models
  • Exposure to financial audits and tax compliance processes
  • Involvement in ERP or accounting systems implementations
  • Experience working within a portfolio company or subsidiary of a larger organization


Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $92,000.00-145,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
