Accounting Manager, Rebates

THE ROLE

The Rebates Manager oversees daily rebate operations and the full rebate lifecycle, including program setup, accruals, invoicing, collections, and period-end close activities. This role ensures rebate activities are executed accurately, timely, and in compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

Responsibilities include managing rebate programs, preparing invoices, monitoring receivables, analyzing rebate activity, and supporting revenue recognition education for internal stakeholders. The manager also drives process improvement through automation, standardization, analytics, and enhanced reporting, with a strong understanding of merchandise margin and rebate impact.

In addition, the role serves as a key liaison for third-party audits and provides leadership through staff supervision, training, and mentoring. The Rebates Manager partners with internal teams to implement controls, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement across rebate processes.

  • Set up and manage rebate programs accurately and consistently, ensuring clear documentation and minimizing downstream corrections.

  • Oversee timely and accurate rebate accruals through both system-generated and manual processes, supported by strong analysis and controls.

  • Prepare and deliver customer rebate invoices on schedule, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.

  • Monitor receivables and manage collections activities to ensure timely payments and resolution of outstanding balances.

  • Execute month-end and period-end close activities, including accurate journal entries and analysis of rebate income and activity.

  • Support third-party audit reviews by maintaining organized documentation and providing timely responses to minimize audit findings.

  • Lead, train, and mentor team members by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching, and supporting employee development.

  • Develop and enhance processes, controls, and procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide transparent reporting, strengthen collaboration, and drive continuous improvement in rebate performance.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Bachelor’s degree in related field with direct merchandise rebates experience will also be considered)

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role

  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory position

Knowledge and skills:

  • Prior experience with merchandise rebates and/or revenue recognition preferred

  • Development-focused: Coach, mentor and build on employees’ strengths and foster an inclusive environment

  • Thought leader and process engineer: Evaluate current state and make/implement recommendations for future improvements

  • Effective Communication: Clear and open dialogue, active listening, and ensuring transparency in decisions.


Language skills:

  • Bilingualism required (Advanced French and English) both spoken and written, as the person will be required to work and communicate regularly in English while performing the tasks outlined above. Specifically, the role requires collaboration with global teams.
