Job Description The
Plant Accounting Manager is a key financial leader within the manufacturing plant, partnering closely with the Plant Controller and operations leadership. This role owns the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the plant's financial results while ensuring strong internal controls and driving continuous improvement.
This is a
hands-on, highly visible role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment and enjoys blending technical accounting expertise with operational partnership.
Key Responsibilities- Month-End Close Leadership - Lead and execute the full month-end close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial results in a lean team environment.
- Journal Entry & Reconciliation Oversight - Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Inventory Accounting Management - Oversee inventory valuation, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.
- Standard Costing & Variance Analysis - Maintain and update standard costs; analyze labor, overhead, and manufacturing variances.
- Internal Controls & Compliance - Support SOX and internal control requirements; ensure compliance with US GAAP.
- Process Improvement Initiatives - Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy.
- Audit Support - Prepare audit schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Cost & Operational Analysis - Perform detailed cost analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Reporting & Insights - Deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting for plant leadership and corporate finance.
- Cross-Functional Partnership - Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and corporate teams in a hands-on plant environment.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business field
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing
- Strong expertise in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management
- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal controls (SOX experience a plus)
- Proven ability to independently manage the month-end close
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communicator with the ability to partner across functions
- Self-starter with a high sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement and driving efficiencies
Relocation is authorized for this position.
