Full Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will play a key role in strengthening the organization's financial foundation, ensuringaccuratereporting,maintainingcompliance, and supporting the development of more structured, scalable processes.

This role is well-suited for someone who brings strong technicalexpertisealong with the curiosity and confidence to ask "why,"identifygaps, and contribute to better financial discipline across the organization

Reports To: Director, Finance

Location:Edmonton, On-site

WhatYou'llBe Doing:

Managing month-end & year-end close and full cycle account processes

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, includingpreparing andreviewingof journal entries and reconciliations

  • Complete financial reporting including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries in compliance with CRA standards

  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Support internal and external audit processes and address audit findings

  • Identifyand implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability

  • Collaborate with Finance,Operations& Supply Chain Managementto align accounting processes with business needs

  • Support budgeting processes across corporate, branch, and manufacturing operations


In an Average Week, You Might...

  • Kick off the week by reviewing financial reporting collection,preparationand analysis

  • Lead into the close process by reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Spend time analyzing revenue, cost, and profitability trends across distribution and manufacturing lines

  • Dig into variances and discrepancies,identifyingroot causes and following up with the business

  • Connect with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to align on processes andflag potential risks

  • Support ongoing budgeting and forecasting activities across multiple business units

  • Wrap up the week by preparing leadership reporting packages and delivering insights to support decision-making


What You Bring:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial reporting, financial analysis, or business performance reporting

  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI

  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to financial reporting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively

  • A proactive approach with the confidence to challenge the status quo and bring forward new perspectives


Bonus Points

  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central

  • CPA Designation or working towards
