Full Job Description
The Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Manager. Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance, this full-time position is responsible for assisting with the management and oversight of the daily finance operations including accounting systems and supervision of the finance staff, and for performing various accounting and finance tasks. This is a management-exempt position within the Village's merit pay plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the monthly and year-end close processes, including the review and preparation of month-end journal entries, bank reconciliations and financial reports.
  • Assists in the design, preparation, and maintenance of account ledgers, financial reports and records.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting standards, Village policies, and established internal controls; monitors and evaluates financial processes to safeguard assets and maintain accurate financial records (segregation of duties, timely account reconciliations, etc.).
  • Coordinates and manages annual audit process, including the preparation and review of audit workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation, and serves as the primary liaison to external auditors.
  • Prepares and assists with the periodic financial reports and major financial documents, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, Annual Budget, Capital Improvement Plan, and other required regulatory filings.
  • Provides oversight and direction for the review and approval of purchase orders, budget transfers, and purchasing card transactions, ensuring compliance with Village policies, budget appropriations, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Assists in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Finance Department operations.
  • Directly or indirectly supervises finance clerk positions, including scheduling work, providing training and coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing personnel matters.
  • Performs special projects, as assigned by the Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required. A minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience is preferred. Municipal government and supervisory experience preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

The successful candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to develop and refine departmental procedures and policies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and ERP system is required. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with other operating departments, Village staff and public.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: A Certified Public Accountant is preferred.

OPENING DATE: June 10, 2026 SALARY RANGE: $109,277-151,837

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week*

*This is an exempt, full-time, in office position working Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Additional hours may be required as necessary to fulfill the responsibility of the role.
