About Our Job

The Accounting Manager reports through ourOperationsDivision as part of our Finance team. As part of the implementation of HOSTs vision of a healthy, housed, and connected Denver, our Accounting Manager will manage the work of a team ofapproximately 3-5financial professionals that providefinancial management of HOSTfunds includingauditing complex records, reconciling discrepancies, correcting variances, tracking and verifying expenditures, and ensuring accuracy of financial transactions.

TheAccounting Manager position willbe responsible for:

  • Supervise accounting staff engaged in daily accounting functions and activities in support of business operations and administration in the areas of financial transactions, contract accounts, andpurchasingactivities.Serve as a working supervisor by directly performing complex accounting functions,maintainingan individual workload, and providing technicalexpertiseand guidance to staff.

  • Ensure accounting transactions are performed, reconciled, recorded, and reported within established policies, procedures, and fiscal rules.

  • Provideleadership, direction, and technical guidance to accounting staff. Assign and distribute work based on workload demands; review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and fiscal requirements.

  • Assistemployees withcomplex, sensitive, or unusual accounting issues and serves as a resource for resolving technical questions.

  • Ensuring compliance andmaintainsfiscal accountabilityregardingrules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Monitor productivity and performance measures, evaluates workflow efficiency, and implements corrective actions or process improvements as needed.

  • Implement HOST strategic plan goals to improve transparency and efficiency in contracting and financial processes through procedure development and implementation, alignment of individual and team performance metrics to plangoals, and engagement with city and other stakeholders to assess and address barriers to partnering with HOST.

  • Experience effectively administering federal resources for housing and homeless services such as those from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) such as HOME, Community Development Block Grants, or Emergency Solutions Grants.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage complex and changing circumstances whilemaintainingpositive communications and relationships with partners.

  • Compassion and commitment to create and preserving affordable housing,shelterand services for those in need.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience: Three (3) years of full performance, professional level experience overseeing and administering functional or operational aspects of fiscal business operations.

  • Education & Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of theappropriate typeand level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additionalappropriate educationmay be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
