π We're Hiring: Accounting ManagerLocation: Providence, RI
Reports To: Chief of Finance
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts)
π§© What You'll Do:The Accounting Manager role is critical to maintaining the financial discipline, operational consistency, and stewardship that support Children's Friend's mission and long-term sustainability. The right candidate will possess strong accounting experience, judgment, steady leadership, and a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Hire, Supervise, coach, and develop at team of individuals on the Finance team (up to 10 max).
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve issues
- Maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and audit-ready records
- Monitor compliance with grants, contracts, donor restrictions, and funding requirements
- Coordinate annual audits and external reviews
- Partner with HR, program, and operations teams to support accurate financial reporting and coding
- Identify process improvements that increase consistency, accuracy and efficiency
- Help create a team environment grounded in accountability, professionalism, and development
π§ What You Bring:Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3-5 years being in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience in nonprofit, government, or grant-funded environments
- Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff
Preferred Qualifications- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience with federal grants and Uniform Guidance
- Experience using nonprofit accounting software such as NetSuite, MIP, Financial Edge, Sage, or Intacct
Work EnvironmentOn-site presence will be required.This is a hybrid position requiring both remote and onsite work. Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, including audits, budgeting cycles, year-end close, and program reviews, is expected.
