DescriptionPosition Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train and mentor all staff in the general accounting department.
- Ensure timely and accurate month end close.
- Post general journal entries, prepare account analysis, and perform balance sheet review.
- Ensure staff are properly supervised and trained in all aspects of their jobs.
- Ensure proper cross training of staff for coverage during absences.
- Establish a working relationship with other departments within the company, including Sales and Human Resources in order to implement procedures and facilitate all functions that impact accounting.
- Prepare monthly and annual Consolidated Financial Statements.
- Prepare the year end audit work papers and lead the outside audit function.
- Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns
- Assist with customer audits for cost-plus contracts; gather all related purchase orders, invoice, and freight cost information.
- Participate in arising ad hoc projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and/or demonstrated capability to perform the job responsibilities through previous experience and/or education.
- At least 4-5 years of related supervisory experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, some familiarity with Sage/Silvercreek system preferred.
- Experience training, mentoring and supervising 10 or more direct reports.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to evenly distribute workload across the department and follow up with employees to make sure the work is being done efficiently and effectively.
- Intimate working knowledge of all duties and responsibilities within the accounting department, inclusive of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
