Job Description

How You'll Add Value...

Reporting to the Senior Director/Controller, the Accounting Manager - Accounting Operations will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of Azenta's global financial close and accounting operations. This position will lead key accounting processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen internal controls, and support the Company's efforts to maintain a best-in-class accounting organization.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced public company environment, possesses strong operational accounting expertise, and has a passion for improving processes and developing talent.

Financial Close & Accounting Operations
  • Lead and manage key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Oversee preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed timely, accurately, and in accordance with Company policies.
  • Review account analyses and investigate unusual transactions, trends, and fluctuations.
  • Partner with regional accounting teams to ensure consistent accounting practices across global operations.
  • Coordinate close activities and ensure critical deadlines are met across the organization.


Balance Sheet Integrity & Internal Controls
  • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process and drive continuous improvements in quality and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and support control execution and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee accounting for operating expenses, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and other key accounting areas.
  • Review monthly flux analyses and provide clear explanations of significant account movements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes.
  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, IT, HR, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, and Legal to strengthen end-to-end financial processes.
  • Assist with ERP enhancements, system implementations, and process redesign initiatives.


Audit Support & Compliance
  • Prepare and review audit schedules and supporting documentation for quarterly and annual audits.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors for assigned accounting areas.
  • Ensure accounting documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Support preparation of materials required by management, executive leadership, and the Audit Committee.


Team Leadership
  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and promote accountability within the team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Help build scalable accounting processes that support Azenta's continued growth.


Special Projects
  • Support acquisition integration activities, including accounting process alignment and internal control integration.
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and operational accounting requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects as assigned.
  • Participate in projects and perform ad-hoc tasks as requested.


What you will Bring...
  • BS Accounting/Finance, MSA or MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting and reporting experience in public accounting or with a publicly traded company
  • CPA license is preferred
  • Strong operational and technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and SEC reporting standards.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.

United States Base Compensation: $110,000.00 - $137,000.00

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications), qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
