About the OpportunityA large-scale farming business is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting activities and improve financial processes across a multi-entity organization.
Reporting to the Controller, you will own month-end close, maintain accurate financial records, and strengthen the systems and controls behind financial reporting. This hands-on role suits someone who can resolve complex accounting issues independently and use technology to make processes more efficient and reliable.
What You'll Do- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close across multiple entities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidated GAAP reporting.
- Manage intercompany and intracompany accounting, ensuring transactions, allocations, balances, and eliminations are recorded correctly across the relevant books.
- Own the fixed asset register and related accounting, including capitalization, additions, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Maintain accurate accounting for cash, prepaids, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies, correct historical accounting issues, and implement procedures that prevent recurring errors.
- Build and document accounting workflows, close checklists, and internal controls.
- Improve ERP functionality, data integrity, and reporting in partnership with the Controller and system specialists.
- Identify opportunities to use automation and AI-assisted tools to streamline recurring accounting work, with appropriate review and controls.
- Coordinate audit support and delivery of financial information to external tax advisors.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve cost visibility and the accuracy of financial reporting.
Key Qualifications- Multi-entity accounting: Demonstrated ownership of accounting across multiple legal entities, including consolidations and accurate entity-level reporting.
- Intercompany and intracompany experience: Hands-on experience managing transactions between legal entities and within an entity across business units or books, including journal entry logic, allocations, reconciliations, and applicable eliminations.
- Month-end close ownership: Experience leading the close from start to finish, resolving discrepancies, and delivering accurate financial results on schedule.
- Fixed asset expertise: Strong experience maintaining and reconciling a fixed asset register, with ownership of the asset lifecycle from capitalization through disposal.
- Systems fluency: Confidence working within ERP systems, tracing transactions, troubleshooting accounting workflows, and improving data quality. NetSuite experience is preferred.
- AI and process improvement: Exposure to applying or evaluating AI-assisted tools for accounting process improvement, such as reconciliation support, exception identification, journal entry preparation, or reporting. Able to validate outputs and maintain appropriate controls over financial data.
- Process building: Experience developing accounting procedures and controls, with the ability to turn an unresolved accounting issue into a reliable, documented process.
- Independent execution: Ability to prioritize work, communicate progress, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
Education and Additional Experience- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience and a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent credential, completed or in progress, preferred.
- Experience in agriculture or another capital-intensive, multi-location operating business is helpful.
- Exposure to ERP implementations, migrations, or system optimization is an advantage.
- Familiarity with debt-financed businesses or investment holding structures is beneficial.

Compensation and Work ArrangementThe annual base salary range is
$120,000-$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is
remote within California, with periodic travel for team meetings and site visits.
