Responsibilities

  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly and monthly basis, including reconciliations and year-end filings.

  • Manage daily trust accounting transactions in line with LSO regulations.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of trust accounts.
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with accounts receivable and work-in-progress (WIP) management.

Our client, a respected Toronto law firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting & Trust Clerk to join their team. Reporting to the COO, this role provides essential support in payroll, benefits, treasury, and trust accounting, with a strong focus on compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities:
• Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll, reconciliations, and year-end filings (T4s)
• Administer employee benefits, including onboarding and terminations
• Handle wire transfers, client credit card payments, and related ledger entries
• Manage day-to-day trust accounting transactions in compliance with LSO requirements
• Complete monthly trust reconciliations
• Provide backup support for AP/AR processing, bank reconciliations, and subledger reconciliations
• Assist with accounts receivable and WIP management

Requirements:
• 3+ years' experience in accounting, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment
• CPA/CGA designation an asset
• Hands-on experience with payroll processing and compliance
• Strong knowledge of law firm trust accounting
• Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to prioritize under pressure
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team-oriented and proactive
