Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Accountant - Senior is responsible for Southland's financial recordkeeping including recording financial transactions, managing accounts and account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position also provides a high level of customer service to both internal departments and external customers.
Position Details- Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable or payroll
- Research and resolve difficult accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
- Follow appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that Southland maintains compliance with all state and federal laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner. Provide individual instruction as needed to ensure users understand processes related to their financial transactions
- Assist in improvement and/or development of internal processes and procedures
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience preferred
- Intermediate accounting knowledge
- Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to transfer knowledge to junior level staff
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult issues
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc. required
- Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California this ranges from $99,427.00 - $117,504.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
