Job DescriptionThe
Accountant IV (Assistant Plant Controller) supports the financial operations of a high-volume manufacturing facility through cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This role partners closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to drive cost management, operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.

on-site position.
ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis- Prepare and analyze monthly plant financial results, including labor, material, overhead, scrap, efficiency, and inventory variances.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in partnership with Corporate Finance.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and reporting in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
- Perform detailed variance analysis (VOP, MoM, YoY, and VPY) and communicate key drivers and recommendations to plant leadership.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management- Maintain and validate standard costs for manufactured products, including bills of material (BOMs), labor standards, routings, and overhead rates.
- Partner with Operations and Materials teams to improve inventory accuracy, cycle count effectiveness, and overall inventory management.
- Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory while supporting working capital and inventory turn initiatives.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and recommend opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning- Assist with the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, incorporating volume, mix, and scenario-based planning.
- Support productivity, cost-reduction, and capital investment initiatives through financial modeling, business case development, and ROI analysis.
Operational Business Partnership- Serve as a strategic finance partner to plant leadership, production, maintenance, engineering, and continuous improvement teams.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support labor efficiency improvements, scrap reduction, yield enhancement, and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on driving operational and financial performance.
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement- Support compliance with internal controls, company accounting policies, and audit requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits and recommend corrective actions to strengthen financial controls and compliance.
- Maintain and analyze data within ERP systems (Oracle or similar) and drive improvements in reporting accuracy, data integrity, and financial processes.
- Support ERP enhancements, system upgrades, and process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and reporting effectiveness.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Manufacturing finance, Cost accounting or plant accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of Standard costing, Inventory accounting, Manufacturing variances.
- Experience working in an ERP environment (Oracle preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrates ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
- Experience with financial reporting.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
HOW TO STAND OUT:- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience in high-volume or mixed-model manufacturing
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments
- Experience supporting capital projects and sourcing evaluations
