The Role at a glance:

We're looking for an Accountant with strong general ledger experience and a background in lease accounting and financial analysis. This role will support month-end close, account reconciliations, lease accounting, financial reporting, and analysis while helping ensure the accuracy of our financial results.

You'll partner with Accounting, Finance, and other teams to analyze financial activity, investigate variances, resolve accounting issues, and provide insights that support business decisions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage key areas of the general ledger and prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Own and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including leases, accruals, fixed assets, insurance, intercompany, and project-related accounts.
  • Review and analyze lease agreements and support lease accounting activities, including classification, measurement, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring assigned accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Analyze financial results, including trends, variances, working capital, and other key financial metrics, and provide insights to support business decisions, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and intercompany variances in partnership with Accounting and Finance teams.
  • Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for management and internal and external audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and overall efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting and reporting issues and support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis.


What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting and month-end close.
  • Experience with lease accounting and reviewing lease agreements from an accounting perspective.
  • Experience with financial analysis, including variance and trend analysis.
  • Strong account reconciliation experience and working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with an ERP system such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or a similar platform.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and partner effectively across teams.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Houston, TX and travel occasionally as needed.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting.
  • Experience with fixed assets, intercompany accounting, working capital reporting, or a multi-entity environment.


Where you'll be working:

This position is based at Elior's corporate office in Houston, TX, with a hybrid schedule of Monday through Thursday in the office and remote on Fridays.

Compensation Range

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000-$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
