Position DescriptionThe Cost Accountant/Senior Accountant - Cost Accounting at Applied Medical plays a key role in ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting to support operational and strategic goals. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position within our Corporate Finance team, focused on analyzing cost data, managing financial close processes, and collaborating with operations to drive efficiency and cost control. Candidates with experience in manufacturing cost accounting and strong analytical skills will find this role impactful and rewarding.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for costing and inventory modules, ensuring accuracy of transactions and journal entries.
- Generate and review inventory and cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze worldwide gross margin fluctuations and provide detailed explanations.
- Review manufacturing variances and collaborate with operations teams to identify and reduce variances.
- Produce accurate and timely inventory and costing reports for operations and management teams.
- Analyze standard costs and perform cost roll-ups for new products and production operations.
- Collaborate with operations teams to assess inventory for excess and obsolete reserves.
- Interact with internal and external auditors, providing analysis and audit schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and company policies.

Position RequirementsThis Position Requires the Following Skills and Attributes - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with an emphasis in accounting.
- At least three years of experience using a standard cost model in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing variances, overhead absorption, and standard cost principles.
- Experience with inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) account reconciliations and related accounting.
- Proficiency in month-end closing processes and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data merges, filters, and IF statements.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, material planning, and warehouse teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with inventory cycle count processes.
