Full Job Description
Accountant Analyst

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Compiles, analyzes, and reports cost accounting information to support management decision-making, including product costs, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.

Analyzes material, labor, overhead, scrap, rework, and other manufacturing cost drivers to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.

Supports month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory analysis, and variance reporting.

Maintains and reviews standard costs, bills of material, routings, and overhead rates in coordination with operations, supply chain, and finance.

Prepares financial and operational reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost, inventory, and manufacturing performance data.

Partners with operations and management to explain cost variances, evaluate business performance, and recommend corrective actions.

Ensures compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable financial reporting requirements.

Supports budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and cost of goods sold.

Applies continuous improvement methods to improve cost accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.

May participate in cross-functional projects related to inventory, operations, systems, or process improvements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS). Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable accounting regulations, including Cost Accounting Standards and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations, as applicable.

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing variance analysis. Ability to analyze material, labor, overhead, scrap, rework, and other cost drivers to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.

Proficient with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheet applications, and reporting tools.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial and operational reports, and to prepare detailed reports, graphs, presentations, and business correspondence.

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define issues, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to communicate effectively with management, operations, supply chain, finance, customers, and other business partners.

Ability to respond to questions and present financial information clearly to team members, leaders, and senior management.

Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives, participate in goal-setting and performance feedback, and contribute effectively in a team environment.
