DescriptionThe Account Manager position is a dynamic role that will provide a spectrum of innovative strategies to develop and maintain the client's group benefits insurance needs. The primary function of the Account Manager role is to manage an assigned book of business, primarily for clients with 50+ lives. Accounts may be fully insured, partially self-funded, or self-insured.
Key Responsibilities- Marketing and account management for assigned clients.
- Coordinate all aspects of renewal marketing process with client and provide program structure, review, and analysis.
- Provide technical competence in areas of coverage and current markets.
- Prepare written annual account service plans.
- Conduct and/or participate in annual open enrollment meetings, health fairs, and webinars.
- Audit client information, premium, and commissions in the HIB client management system - Broker Builder - for assigned accounts.
- Educate and clarify coverage forms to clients.
- Assist in spreading marketing results, including benefit comparisons.
- Maintain Benefits Administration systems for assigned accounts.
- Assist with group applications, and policy termination notices as necessary.
- Thorough documentation is required on each account, while ensuring that proper E&O procedures are followed.
- Must be able to handle complex accounts.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- Education - High School graduate/GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in group health insurance or with a benefits brokerage/consulting firm.
- Active CA Life & Disability license is required.
- Adaptable, self-starter, with experienced decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, both written and oral.
- Problem solving, analytical, and marketing skills required.
- Must be organized and able to manage time effectively.
- Must be proficient with MS Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Professional demeanor and behavior.
- Must embody the Heffernan Habits as illustrated herein.
*The compensation for this role will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This role will be eligible to participate in an annual bonus program.
