GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONThe OpportunityContra Costa Water District is seeking an Account Clerk III to join the Finance team. The Account Clerk III serves as the lead for the Accounts Payable function, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This position works closely with an Account Clerk II, provides technical guidance and support, and serves as the primary subject matter expert for accounts payable processes. The role also participates in a coverage pool for the Cashier function, assisting customers with water payments.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIESKey Responsibilities - Review incoming invoices for accuracy, coding, and supporting documentation prior to processing.
- Enter invoices into payment batches and review for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
- Process payments, including check printing and distribution.
- Review vendor statements and reconcile discrepancies.
- Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payment status.
- Maintain accurate and organized records.
- Serve as the lead clerk for Accounts Payable by providing guidance, training, and technical support to staff.
- Serve as backup for the Cashier during breaks and vacancies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Training: Equivalent to an associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting clerical experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
