Full Job Description
The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) at Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of DVM Admissions and Student Recruitment. This is a full-time, 11-month/year appointment faculty position with significant administrative duties (60% effort). The anticipated start date is fall 2026. Candidates seeking an Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) appointment will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Professor commensurate with qualifications and professional interest.

The departmental home for the successful candidate at VMBS will be determined based on the applicant's area of expertise and experience.

Responsibilities for this position as a faculty member include teaching in the DVM curriculum (10-30% effort), providing academic service to the college and Texas A&M University (10% effort), and contributing to research/scholarship (5-25%). Opportunities to contribute to patient care in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital are also available.

The Associate Dean of DVM Admissions and Student Recruitment is responsible for providing strategic leadership for admissions and student recruitment within the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. Reporting directly to the Dean of VMBS, the Associate Dean serves as a member of the college leadership team and collaborates with faculty, staff, and external partners to advance VMBS strategic priorities in education and student success.

The Associate Dean will lead a comprehensive and mission-aligned approach to admissions and recruitment, ensuring excellence, fairness, and compliance in all processes. This role is central to shaping the DVM student body and enhancing student success through student recruitment and evidence-based admissions processes.

Key Responsibilities

Admissions Leadership and Operations
  • Provide strategic oversight of holistic review processes for DVM applicants
  • Assess ongoing admissions processes and investigate emerging selection methodologies
  • Lead and guide the DVM Selections Committee in evaluating, interviewing, and ranking applicants
  • Direct Admissions Office operations, including TMDSAS application management, interview coordination, and final selections
  • Provide reporting for and ensure compliance with COE accreditation standards and all state and university regulations

Student Recruitment and Pipeline Development
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies aligned with VMBS and university missions
  • Strengthen outreach and pipeline programs to attract highly qualified applicants

Student Financial Support and Advancement

  • Provide leadership for financial aid and scholarship programs for incoming students
  • Partner with development efforts to enhance student scholarship fundraising

Qualifications

Required:
  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Clinical practice experience in the U.S. or Canada
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience in veterinary medical education
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred:
  • Board certification in an AVMA-recognized specialty or a PhD degree
  • Experience in admissions, recruitment, or academic administration
