Job Description:

As an A/V Engineering Manager at GDIT you'll manage and coach a small technical team ensuring a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. This team will design install, maintain, and troubleshoot audio and visual systems, including UC (Zoom/Teams), live events, and multimedia presentations, ensuring optimal sound and picture quality for audiences by selecting appropriate equipment, configuring settings, and managing system integration across various environments.

HOW AN AV ENGINEERING MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
  • Collaborating with Executives and clients to determine AV needs before an event
  • Transporting, setting up and connecting all audio-visual equipment for live performances
  • Collaborating with IT staff to integrate AV systems into network infrastructure
  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing AV systems
  • Ability to understand as built line drawings, and project schedules; Project management skills and experience leading AV projects
  • Installing permanent AV equipment in conference rooms
  • Testing the equipment to ensure everything is connected correctly and the signal is strong
  • Experience with AV control systems like Crestron, Extron. Production level knowledge of Zoom/Teams
  • Expertise in networking and IP-based AV solutions
  • Comfortable working with cabling, wiring, and electrical systems
  • Strong understanding of acoustics and sound system design
  • Ability to work well under pressure manage multiple tasks simultaneously and make decisions quickly
  • Familiarity with video production and editing software
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest AV technologies and industry trends
  • Flexibility to travel to different sites for installations and support
  • Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing AV technology and works with management to evolve current designs and processes


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelors degree with 5+ years of related experience. In lieu of degree, 9+ years of related experience required.
  • Leadership/Supervisory Experience: 5+ years recent demonstrated management of an A/V technical team
  • Required Technical Skills: Knowledge in the architecture and design of complex AV systems; demonstrated TEAMS/Zoom expertise

  • Discretion & Confidentiality: Understanding that executives may discuss sensitive information; maintaining strict professionalism at all times.
  • Anticipatory Thinking: Predicting needs before an executive asks-testing equipment early, identifying risks, and preparing backups.
  • Polished Communication: Providing clear, brief updates-no technical jargon. Executives want direct, solutions-focused communication.

The likely salary range for this position is $142,792 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
