Description

Essential Functions:
  • Reports to the Chief Executive Officer regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
  • Monitors departmental staff matters to include interviewing and the hiring of new staff, training, evaluating work performance, promotion, counseling, discipline and termination.
  • Administers and implements the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of all TVHS facilities 24 hours per day/7 days per week. Monitors its applications to assure maximum effectiveness and provides appropriate documentation of the same.
  • Coordinates the repair of equipment or recommends the replacement of or additions to equipment or physical plant as necessary.
  • Works closely with other departments and administration. Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, makes job assignments, orders needed materials, supplies and parts. Recommends use of outside specialty contractors as circumstances indicate.
  • Schedules and supervises maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of hospital building systems and equipment with due respect to the limitations of cost, regulations and relative priorities.
  • Responsible for the selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors and ensures all contractual provisions are met along with established codes.
  • Administers and implements the preventive maintenance program of fire alarm system according to National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) criteria. Responsible for the development of policies and procedures relative to fire and safety.
  • Compiles operational records, such as inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test results.
  • Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Develops or implements electronic maintenance programs or computer information management systems.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, or job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.
  • Ensures routine and non-routine inspections are performed and hospital structure and equipment meet existing codes set forth by local, state and federal government agencies.
  • Directs, schedules and supervises maintenance and repairs on all hospital equipment, structures and vehicles in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that necessary logs and records are maintained including preventive maintenance and operation.
  • Completes monthly fire extinguisher inspections within the organization at all locations.
  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates fire drills within the organization in accordance with State Fire Marshal guidelines.
  • Conducts quarterly building and grounds assessments of all facilities to identify needed improvements, hazard surveillance, code violations, incorrect work practices, and necessary repairs.
  • Oversees the daily performance and grounds care of the hospital to assure a uniform and satisfactory landscaped appearance.


Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, minimum of an associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two (2) year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 (3-5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
