Position: Teacher, Varying Exceptionalities (VE) / Exceptional Student Varying Exceptionalities (ESE)
Description: This position will include pushing into general education classrooms for ESE support facilitation, pulling out into a resource classroom for ESE specially designed instruction, and providing support for students with enhanced behavioral needs.

Start Date: August 3, 2026

Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in Exceptional Student Education (grades K-12) and Elementary Education (grades K-6) is a prerequisite for teaching in field. How to Become FL Certified in Exceptional Student Education (grades K-12):
  1. Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired professional educator certificate from another state in the relevant subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
  2. Special Ed Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Special Education, Mild and Moderate Needs, Teacher of the Handicapped, Varying Exceptionalities, Behavioral Disorders, BD/LD, Emotionally Conflicted, Emotionally Disturbed, Emotionally Handicapped, Socially and Emotionally Maladjusted, Educable Mentally Retarded, Children with Retarded Mental Development (CRMD), Intellectual Disabilities, Mentally Handicapped, Mentally Impaired, Mental Retardation, Profoundly Mentally Retarded, Severely and Profoundly Mentally Retarded, Trainable Mentally Retarded, Learning Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, Motor Disabilities, Orthopedically Handicapped, Physically Handicapped, & Physically Impaired.
  3. Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in ESE K-12 is required. Visit the testing website http://www.fl.nesinc.com/tests.asp for further details.
