Title: 2nd Shift Machining Supervisor - 121139
Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As a 2nd Shift Machining Supervisorfor JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

Supervise a team of wage employees to safely deliver quality products in the most efficient manner. Promote a culture of responsibility, and continuous improvement to drive sustainable business results Execute all aspects of supervisory tasks including onboarding, development, discipline, and performance evaluation. Implement policies, procedures, and initiatives in support of unit objectives.

  • Supervises semi to highly skilled machining employees to ensure the manufacture of products within established delivery, quality, safety and cost standards.
  • Develops and implements plans to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System of moderate scope.
  • Execute all aspects of supervisory tasks including onboarding, development, discipline, and performance evaluation. Implement policies, procedures, and initiatives in support of unit objectives.
  • Ability to design and develop machine fixtures or work holdings, inspection gauges or validation tools, create CAD models and engineering drawings (CREO/PDMLink)
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and apply lean manufacturing and change management principles.
  • Manage Tool Design Request (TDR) workflow
  • Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets. Monitors and make corrections to stay within the department operating budget targets
  • Plans, coordinates, and performs manufacturing engineering work for a project or process.
  • Operates in a team environment within either the enterprise product delivery process or the enterprise order fulfillment process.

What Skills You Need

  • 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing, machining, or operations
  • 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, tooling, or related technical field
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of machining processes (CNC, fixturing, cutting tools)
  • Understanding of gaging principles and quality systems
  • Experience with CAD tools (Creo preferred) and data systems (PDMLink)
  • Ability to support off-shift operations (2nd shift, with flexibility for business needs)


What Makes You Standout

  • Experience in unionized manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and calibration processes
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
  • Experience with SAP, Vericut, Creo, AutoCAD, TMR, CNC machine programs
  • Knowledge of materials engineering and engineering mechanics. Engineering knowledge of materials properties.
  • Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.)
  • Experience in leadership or supervision of a union workforce
  • Experience with wage/union employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules
  • Excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment
  • Ability and flexibility to work across shifts based on production needs


Education

  • College Degree with Engineering or Business focus
