Reporting to the Manager, Utilities Operations in this unionized position you will perform supervisory and technical electrical work for water, sewer, and stormwater facilities and systems. This position oversees the work of skilled electricians and others involved in electrical installations.
Responsibilities: - Plan, schedule, coordinate and review the work of tradespersons and crew involved in electrical installations
- Supervise the work of other skilled electricians to ensure adherence to established standards, specifications, and safety procedures
- Schedule and coordinate projects with external stakeholders as required, and oversee contractors and crews to ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and code requirements
- Train new employees in safe work practices and procedures, and develop, recommend, and implement improved work methods, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance programs
- Conduct condition assessments, safety inspections and maintain electronic operational and monitoring systems according to established procedures
- Perform other related work as required
Qualifications: - Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized trade apprenticeship, plus considerable related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in electrical installations and related work
- Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures related to the installation, maintenance and expansion of electrical systems and equipment and hazards/safety precautions used
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to the work performed
- Ability to plan, assign, supervise and check the work of skilled electricians and crew members
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, plans, specifications, and other materials related to the work and establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external contacts
- Skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment used in the work
Required Certifications/Licenses Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
- BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver's License or equivalent driver's license for where you reside.
