If you are graduating with a degree in Engineering or related technical field and want to learn and apply systems engineering principles in support of strategic systems, we'd love to have you join our team!

Our team is the System Realization and Resilience group (KBR) within the Force Projection Sector (FPS) at The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (APL). We are responsible for enabling the realization of strategic systems, ensuring resilience and specialty disciplines are integrated throughout system development, and supporting credible verification of strategic weapon systems. We lead efforts in systems engineering, system security engineering, test and integration, digital engineering, nuclear command and control, and reliability engineering. As a member of our team, you will provide systems engineering expertise to inform the technical direction of existing and future strategic weapons systems. We are passionate about making critical contributions to these critically important programs, and you will be a key part of our success. With your help, we will remain at the forefront of ensuring the credibility of our nation's strategic weapon systems.

As a System Realization and Resilience Engineer, you will:
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to guide the design, development, and evaluation of strategic weapon systems.
  • Participate as a systems engineer on various projects, studies, and technical working groups focusing on requirements development, analysis, concept/technology development, acquisition, test planning and execution, system evaluation, and risk assessments across the program lifecycle.
  • Employ system engineering methodologies and analyses such as model based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering (DE) to enable the development of strategic weapon systems.
  • Deliver formal reports and presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors, and effectively communicate proposed concepts/solutions and analysis results.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Have interest in Systems Engineering and/or Specialty Engineering domains.
  • Are willing and able to travel periodically, including short duration visits to sponsor offices at the Washington Navy Yard and to supporting contractor sites, as well as occasional travel to other military bases across the country.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have familiarity or experience using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like Cameo/Magic Draw and DOORS.
  • Have an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

$85,000 Annually

Maximum Rate

$165,000 Annually
