Job Description:
Field Tooling Engineer
Supports Solar’s Tool America organization by providing technical support and leadership for assuring the safety, reliability, availability, and cost effectiveness of field tooling, specialty equipment, and support systems used in support of Field Services, Field Repair and our customers. Work closely with Field Repair, Field Operations, Tool Design and other Tool America personnel to provide technical support for tooling design, inspection, certification, maintenance, repair, and deployment using established engineering standards and procedures. Extensive interaction with suppliers, and field personnel worldwide to ensure tooling solutions meet operational, safety, and customer requirements. Responsible for providing engineering guidance, process documentation, and responsive technical support critical to Tool America’s focus on safety, quality, operational excellence, and the timely execution of field service and field repair activities.
Activities include:
- Providedispositionfor out-of-spectooling
- Technical liaison for detailed repairs and work performed by suppliers
- Establish tooling inspection standards and training for inspection personnel
- Support field personnel with the identification of the correct tooling to support specific packages and work scopes
- Manage tooling interchangeability for field tool revisions and alternates
- UtilizeLean6 Sigma principles to generate improvements to meet quality and productionrequirements
MinimumRequirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree inMechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, IndustrialEngineering, or related degree at time of employment
- 2.8GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, resolve complex problems, and make sound technical decisions
- 0-3 years of relevant experience
Preferred Requirements:
- Understanding ofbasic turbomachinery
- Internshipsin manufacturingenvironmentorin an engineering role
- Proficiencyin Excel,macrosprogramminglanguagesand functions
- Demonstrated communication skills (verbaland written)
- Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and mechanical/engineering drawings
- Senseof urgency and organizational skills to work with multiple projects and competing priorities
- Lean6 Sigma experience- Yellow Belt or Green Belt participation on a 6 Sigma project desirable
- Demonstratedability to takeinitiative to improve quality throughidentification of root cause and Implementation of correctiveaction
- Ability to effectivelycommunicatewith internal and external customers, withproficiencyin communicating technical information
- Demonstratedabilityto work independently andcompleteassigned tasksin a timely manner
Summary Pay Range:
$72,360.00 - $108,540.00
