The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Product Experience Designer for the Engineering Applications Department (EAD) in the Information Systems Cyber Division (ISCD). The position is full time, onsite at our office in El Segundo, CA.

Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers. 

Job Description

Product Experience Designer will create world-class user experiences for complex space systems. EAD develops cutting-edge visualization tools, from sophisticated web and desktop applications to immersive experiences, that transform complex engineering data into intuitive interfaces for critical decision-making in civil, commercial, and national security space programs.

You will work closely with product experience designers and other engineers to translate customer needs into innovative design solutions.

  • Develop and implement intuitive experiences for game engine applications, advanced visualization software, and immersive technologies

  • Partner with developers, engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to align vision and deliver cohesive solutions

What You Need to Be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design or Interactive Design or related STEM discipline from an accredited college or university, pursuing or conferring within 12 months. 

  • 0-1 year of industry work experience  

  • Experience carrying designs from start to finish, from wireframes to delivery of final high-fidelity UI mockups

  • Strong understanding of the life cycle process of website development (discovery, planning, design, requirements, coding, testing, and user testing and evaluation)

  • Demonstrated ability in user research methodologies, usability testing, user-centered design principles and frameworks, rapid prototyping, and accessibility

  • Advanced understanding of user personas, user flows, affinity mapping, and other research tools

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, or Interactive Design

  • Proven experience with one or more of the following applications / methodologies:

  • -Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Claude, or similar design tools

  • -Game engine development (Unity, Unreal Engine), 3D visualization environments, and AR/VR/XR

  • -Web development, WebXR, WebGL, and interactive websites

  • -3D software like Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, or equivalent modeling tools

  • -Proficient skills in motion design using After Effects, Rive, Cinema 4D, or similar tools

  • ​Experience establishing and maintaining rapid customer feedback loops to inform design at critical stages

  • Self-starter who is motivated, confident, and has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Proven ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to executives

  • Current DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
