Status: Permanent Full Time
Who You Are - Knowledge and experience in adult education concepts with the ability to modify approaches for different learning styles
- Demonstrate understanding of chronic conditions (CHF, COPD, DM) and management
- Demonstrate understanding of public health/social issues and resources
- Demonstrated the ability to maintain a high level of patient satisfaction
- Demonstrate the ability to foster a positive and co-operative working relationship with team members, allied services, and other agencies and the public
What You'll Do - Ensure an effective and efficient service including volunteer scheduling and provision of emergency service on a 24 hour, 7 days per week basis
- Formulate with the Director of Ambulance Services, contingency plans for the community service to be implemented in the event of a disaster or special event
- Consult with Volunteers and staff, to ensure familiarity with and the capability of carrying out all operational procedures
- Ensure all staff and volunteers are aware of training standards, qualifications and career courses provided or sponsored by the Ministry of Health Emergency Health Services Branch
- Provide a comprehensive orientation and training program for all new volunteers
- Arrange for in-service training for staff and volunteers on a regular basis
- Ensure personnel directives are implemented and followed
- Review and update personnel files monthly, interviewing and counselling as required.
- Complete annual performance interviews on staff and volunteers ensuring appropriate qualifications are met and maintained
- Liaise with primary care providers/allied health providers such as physicians, pharmacists and care coordinators. Travel will be required to other communities
- Provide patient education, self-management coaching, welfare checks, post exacerbation and hospital discharge follow up support to manage their underlying condition(s)
- Provide personal care, medication assistance and support
What You Bring - Diploma in Paramedicine
- Must meet all requirements under legislation to qualify as a Paramedic
- Demonstrated understanding of Adult Learning Principles and ability to communicate and educate the public in the community with respect to diseases, treatment, prevention, etc., and services provided
- Certification as a Paramedic in accordance with the Ontario Provincial Symptom Relief and Cardiac Arrest Medical Directives
- Valid Ontario Class "F" or higher driver's license in good standing which meets the requirements of the Ambulance Act of Ontario
- Prior experience management experience and knowledge related to Community Paramedicine an asset
- Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset

Salary: $118,185.60 - $133,952.00
