Job Description:

Caterpillar is seeking a 1st Shift Logistics Production Manager in Athens, GA. In this role, you are responsible for supervising and directing the daily activities of logistics workers, assigning their tasks, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance while coordinating between different teams to ensure that the facility's needs are supported.

In addition, you will prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards. Further you will analyze and recommend current and future systems, procedures and equipment needs based on manufacturing requirements.

What you can look forward to in this role:
  • Optimize material flow throughout the facility.
  • Ensure availability of needed equipment & tools to execute logistics processes.
  • Manage the development and implementation of cost-effective material handling plans.
  • Supervise daily activities of staff by coaching, delegating, monitoring progress and providing direction and technical support.
  • Establish supplier packaging requirements that support the business.
  • Design & maintain material flow plans for purchased material from receipt, validation, storage, pick, distribution, and any reverse logistics for waste or returnable packaging.
  • Create & maintain the standard work, value stream maps, PFMEA's, and SFMEA's associated with Logistics.

  • Logistics Operations: Knowledge of logistics operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

  • Leadership Experience in Supply chain or logistics
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
  • MRP Experience
  • Exhibit of critical thinking, analytical skills, and initiative
  • Demonstrated knowledge of order to delivery, engineering and/or manufacturing principles
  • Familiar with company policies and procedures

The primary location for this position is Athens, GA.

Summary Pay Range:

$81,370.00 - $122,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
