1031 EXCHANGE OFFICER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Responsible for interfacing with clients on a day-to-day basis to handle operational or service-related issues/inquiries regarding the 1031 Exchange process. This colleague actively engages in meaningful conversations with clients to ensure that the client's 1031 exchange is managed in a professional and timely matter, adhering to all IRC§1031 Regulations. This colleague works directly with clients, as well as supporting the Senior Relationship Manager/Certified Exchange Specialist® with Client on-boarding, transaction coordination and file maintenance. This colleague provides accurate, timely and extensive information to all client inquiries and requests to ensure retention of existing clients, strengthen prospect opportunities, and building meaningful COI networks. This person is instrumental in working as liaison with other internal departments to provide operational excellence.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Maintains a good understanding of the 1031 Exchange program and a thorough understanding of Deposit Control Accounts. Activities can include: collecting the items necessary to prepare the exchange documents (from client, attorney, closing agent or escrow company), opening 1031 Exchange Account, updating transaction tracking spreadsheet and Abacus Law software, preparing and sending exchange agreements and deadline packages, funds authorizations, and 1031 Exchange closing packages.
  • Primary contact with all parties for transactional and operational needs. Responsible for the operational integrity of the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Resolves problems and answers questions related to client's 1031 Exchange and exchange account.
  • Works directly with clients in handling all areas of 1031 operations (e.g., new account request, account research, wires, etc.) to free Senior Relationship Manager from performing these duties.
  • Provide accurate, timely and extensive information to all customer inquiries and requests to ensure retention of existing clients and expansion of COI referrals.
  • Knowledgeable in IRC§1031 rules and regulations in order to properly assist clients in understanding the requirements of all imperative deadlines, identification rules and general 1031 regulations.
  • Complies fully with all bank risk management, operational procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, City National Code of conduct, etc.)
  • Participates in client calls and presentations with Certified Exchange Specialist® and assists in onboarding new clients relationships. Provides technical expertise to assist in problem solving and identifies and recommends methods to improve productivity and effectiveness to Management.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of all bank products and services as well as IRC§1031 Regulations, with the ability to handle the largest, most complex and sensitive account relationships.
  • Colleague typically has three or more years' experience with 1031 exchange operations, and has the Certified Exchange Specialist® designation or is willing to study in order to qualify to take the CES® designation test.

Compensation
Starting base salary: $65,296 - $104,304 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
