Job Description
Provides direct patient care, to include examination, diagnosis, treatment and disease control.
Management Scope: Provides direct supervision to Nurse Practitioner(s)/Physician Assistant(s)
Responsibilities
1. Examines patients, evaluates historical information, develops specific diagnoses and prepares patient treatment plans.
2. Reviews and signs all patient charts to assure diagnosis and treatments are in accordance with medical directives.
3. Provides technical non-administrative supervision and guidance for other health professionals, including nurse practitioners and epidemiologists.
4. Works closely with the clinic supervisor to ensure the clinic runs efficiently and is able to provide quality patient care.
5. Develops medical directives and standing delegated orders in accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and the rules of the Texas Board of Medical Examiners, for use by clinic staff.
6. Consults with other health professionals in the county and ensures that patient treatment plans are carried out.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Training:
MD/DO from an accredited school of Medicine. Three (3) years of professional work related experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard clinic environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations. Exposure to blood and various illnesses, diseases and other health problems.
