Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:


The purpose of this position is to provide professional outpatient healthcare to students and employees. Nurse practitioners provide acute urgent care to campus community as well as mental health services to students and also participate in various health and wellness programs as a part of outreach to the campus community, including student orientations, vaccine clinics and wellness initiatives.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Assess, diagnose and treat uncomplicated common mental health issues for students.
  • Performs, orders and interprets CLIA-waived tests (Strep, Mono, Flu). Orders and interprets outside diagnostic labs as needed relative to patient complaint.
  • Completes documentation in electronic medical record in a timely manner and in compliance with standards.
  • Perform procedures within scope of license and clinic scope, including dermabond of simple skin repairs, IV fluids, ear lavage, foreign body removal, simple I & D, and Wood's lamp exam.
  • Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare team and other campus partners.
  • Assists with health and wellness initiaves and programs as outreach to the campus community

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current treatments for diagnoses in primary care.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, including strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel programs, other software as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with constituents - students, University employees and outside service providers.


Required Education
Master's degree nurse practitioner. Current Tennessee licensure. ANA board certified nurse practitioner. Current CPR certification.

Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
