Orbis International is a nonprofit organization that works in developing countries to prevent and treat blindness. Orbis operates the world's only flying eye hospital, an MD-10 aircraft that travels to developing countries to provide hands-on training to local eye care professionals. Orbis also provides grants to local organizations to support the development of eye care infrastructure and services. Orbis was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in New York City. Orbis has offices in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Orbis has partnerships with local organizations in more than 90 countries.
