North Carolina Central University is a public historically black university located in Durham, North Carolina. The university was founded in 1910 as the National Religious Training School and Chautauqua by Dr. James E. Shepard. Today, the university offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in a variety of fields, including business, education, law, and nursing. North Carolina Central University is part of the University of North Carolina system.
