The New England Conservatory (NEC) is a private music school in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1867, NEC is the oldest independent school of music in the United States. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in music performance, composition, and music education. NEC has a faculty of more than 225 musicians, and enrolls approximately 750 students each year. The school is known for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on individualized instruction.
