The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a government-owned, contractor-operated facility of the United States Department of Energy (DOE). NREL is the United States' primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development. The laboratory focuses on research and development advancements in renewable electricity, energy efficiency, energy systems integration, and sustainable transportation. NREL is located in Golden, Colorado, and has a satellite campus in the Denver West area.
