The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) is a public school district based in Fort Worth, Texas. The district serves most of the city of Fort Worth and some surrounding areas. FWISD is the fifth largest school district in Texas and the 16th largest in the United States. The district operates 83 elementary schools, 29 middle schools, 6th grade centers, 18 high schools, and 16 other campuses. FWISD employs over 11,000 teachers and staff members, and serves over 86,000 students. The district's mission is to prepare all students for success in college, career, and community leadership.
